Criteria for qualified fosters are as followed:
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our canines a strict vetting process will be followed.
After going through the vetting process and before a canine is placed with a new foster, the new foster must go through a 2-hour course with PK9s instructors on dog management. Also, basic rules/training techniques will be taught to shape the canine into becoming a service dog.
Items covered in training for new fosters:
This is an opportunity for the public to be a part of something great. It gives a volunteer the opportunity to learn training methods and techniques. To learn dog management skills. Also, the opportunity to volunteer and help our Veterans community in a way that con not be measured. To give back to those who have given so much of themselves already. To feel pride in support of a unique program and to be a part of it as well. We at Patriot K9s thank you for wanting to be a part of our great organization.
